God’s New Humanity

A Biblical Theology of Multiethnicity for the Church
  • May 22, 2012

A word from the author:

Our society is changing rapidly and it is estimated that by the year 2050, minorities who are now roughly one-third of the U.S. population will become the majority, compromising approximately 54 percent of the nation’s population. Such unprecedented demographic changes carry significant implication for local churches. In light of this, there is a growing movement around the world encouraging multiethnic growth in local churches. What has been lacking, however, is a substantive biblical theology which lays the scriptural foundation for such an emphasis. I have written God’s New Humanity with the intention of responding to that need.

I am a 1975 graduate of Moody. I had the joy of leading the Student Foreign Missions Fellowship (now known as SMF) for two of my years at Moody. Following my days at Moody, the Lord directed me to Dallas Seminary and then to France where my family and I served as missionaries from 1985–2000. I also completed my doctoral studies in Paris during that time. I am presently senior pastor of Central Bible Church in Portland, Ore.
