Spiritual Enrichment

Spiritual Enrichment

At Moody, students grow spiritually and prepare for ministry in and out of the classroom. Weekly ministry experiences, internships, conferences, and mentoring relationships give students numerous way to apply what they are learning from their courses.

Chapel

Chapel is an integral part of the educational experience at Moody Bible Institute. Each chapel seeks to enhance Christian life and character by encouraging the discipline of corporate worship and addressing issues related to Christian living. It also serves as a strategic time to develop campus community.

Chapels are typically held in Torrey-Gray Auditorium on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and include drama, music, and messages from renowned Christian speakers and Moody faculty. A Seminary-specific chapel is held each Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Auditorium on the Chicago campus. The content of these chapels is designed to provide encouragement and instruction for students. President's Chapel is held each Tuesday. Undergraduate students are required to attend chapel on a daily basis and are permitted eight absences from chapel each semester.

Audio recordings from the current academic year are available online.

Practical Christian Ministry (PCM)

Students gain hands-on ministry experience through weekly PCM assignments. The size and diversity of Chicago, the central location of Moody's campus, and convenient access to public transportation offer students hundreds of ministry opportunities in churches, youth outreach programs, homeless shelters, community centers, refugee ministries, and more.

Missions Trips

Students may go on short-term PCM trips in the U.S. and abroad. Previous trips have included service in Utah, Oklahoma's Choctaw Indian Nation, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, England, Israel, the Philippines, Vietnam, and more. These trips help give students intercultural ministry experience.

Founder's Week

Founder's Week is our annual Bible conference held during the first week of February for the inspiration of students, alumni, and staff.

Missions Conference

The annual Missions Conference is a three-day conference held in the fall, addressing major areas and issues in worldwide missions.

Spiritual Enrichment Week

Spiritual Enrichment Week takes place in November and consists of a series of chapels presented by a guest speaker committed to encouraging a fuller life in Christ.

Urban Emphasis Week

Urban Emphasis Week provides an opportunity for students to learn about ministries in the urban context. Chapels feature speakers ministering in cities and challenge the community to have a heart for urban centers.

Day of Prayer

The first Wednesday of March is set aside for Moody's annual Day of Prayer. Students, faculty and staff members meet corporately and privately throughout the day that emphasizes the discipline of intercessory prayer.

Theological Lectureship

Our annual Theological Lectureship consists of two chapels each spring that feature a well-known theologian speaking on current matters of theology.
